We live in a broken world—one with a mixture of hope and fear, peace and discord, health and sickness, wealth and poverty, love and hate. In the aftermath of tragedy, people ask, “If God is good and cares for me, why does He allow harm? Where is justice for evil? Where is healing for my loved ones? When I’m hurting, where is God?”

In WHERE IS GOD?, John W. Nichols shares how he hated God because of His apparent absence. But when John was at the peak of his anger, God spoke to him in an undeniable way. The author weaves in the story of God revealing His love with a Biblical explanation of the pain we face, while inviting us to break down any walls we’ve put between us and Jesus, so we can return to Him the love He first showed us.

—Where is God? In Pain and Suffering, God is Closer and More Loving Than You Could Ever Imagine

I like them both but think I give the edge to the maze because to me it portrays the maze of life yet shows Gods light in the distance.
Keep listening and following John. You are awesome.

  2. I like the second mock-up with the maze. Easy title to read with the maze in the back.

I still love the maze, as that’s what life is at times, and where to turn is so important. You are a gifted writer and I love reading your blogs, and your first book, and am awaiting your next. Thanks for being used by God in this scary world, knowing that with God being with us, we will make it!!

    • Thanks for the encouragement, Jeanette! I’m so glad God let’s us be a part of His work. Yes, I’m thinking I will go with the blue hedge maze cover. I’ll need to tweak the title though because John Townsend has a book titled “Where is God?” already (I should have researched this before making the covers). Pray for God to help me combine the thematic elements to portray the book well in the title and subtitle.

  4. Steve Jepperson says:

John, Intriguing title! Reminiscent of C.S.Lewis concluding that if I have a desire this world cannot satisfy, then maybe the source of that desire and it’s fullfillment is of/from a different world. Also makes me think of John Eldredges’s “Journey of Desire”. Michael Berry, KTRH talk show celebrity “I get it. God doesn’t exist and you hate him.” Stalin’s last breath taken as he angrily shook his fist at heaven. What we love and hate, desire and despair reveals who we are and the God who is there. You’ll do fantastic.
